Celebrate a monumental legacy! On September 19, 2025, join us in honoring the second anniversary of the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks' inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This special weekend will feature tours and events across three sites including: 

  • Octagon Earthworks
    • Free tours at 12:30 and 3 p.m.
  • Great Circle Earthworks
    • Tour at 2 p.m. Admission applies.
  • Fort Ancient Earthworks & Nature Preserve 
    • Tours at 1 and 3 p.m. Admission applies.
  • Hopewell Culture National Historical Park sites in Chillicothe 
    • The Mound City Group Visitor Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can speak with rangers and watch the 20-minute interpretive film. We will also be highlighting the National Park Service World Heritage Junior Ranger program and badge for families.
    • The grounds of Mound City Group, Hopeton Earthworks, Hopewell Mound Group and Seip Earthworks are open daylight hours.
